COPE is an international educational project that develops trauma-informed approaches to teaching and supports educators working with people affected by war and crisis. The project is coordinated by Comparative Research Network (CRN) and brings together partners from across Europe.

Project aim

• Equip teachers and trainers with knowledge of trauma-informed methods.
• Help educators create a safe and supportive environment for children and adults.
• Support the reintegration of those affected into communities through education and social support.
• Reduce the impact of war on the European education sector.

Educational components

COPE develops methodological materials, trainings and practical tools that help teachers work with traumatised participants in the educational process. Particular attention is given to:

• emotional safety;
• adaptation of curricula;
• development of facilitation and support skills.

International cooperation

The project brings together universities, education centres and civil society organisations from Ukraine, Germany and other European countries. This cooperation enables an exchange of experience and the development of transferable approaches that can be applied in different contexts.

The Ukrainian partner in the project is the Ukrainian Network of Adult Education and Development of Innovation (UNAEDI).

Impact

COPE helps educators and communities build resilience, support those who have lived through traumatic events, and create inclusive educational spaces where everyone can feel safe and heard.
